Integrated project support

What we do

Integrated Project Support

WIthin a clear mandate, we represent the client with a large multidisciplinary project portfolio. We do this for the entire project from feasibility study through concept and study to start-up and commissioning of the facility. We do this in close cooperation but independently of the engineering firms or contractors involved. This way, we can best represent the interests of the project.

How

Integrated

In order to realise the scope of a large project within the schedule and budget and at the required quality, the technical elaboration and management of the project must go hand in hand. Therefore, we pay equal attention to both. Integration means that technology and management within a project challenge each other to achieve the required result. Your project goal.

What

Project

A project is a temporary and important step in your organisation’s complete story. That importance requires experience and professionalism within the project organisation. The temporary nature sometimes means that this experience does not exist in the organisation, or at least not sufficiently. Or that the people with that experience are needed elsewhere. Projects are our bread and butter. We have that experience, we have the time, and we have the desire to use it in your project.

Partnership

Support

We represent the client in the entire project process as they would if they had the time, experience, and knowledge to do it personally, and in relation to all internal and external stakeholders, if so desired. We have only one goal: a successful project.

Mission and Vision

Predictable Projects

A project should not be a leap into the dark with exceeded budgets, deadlines, and installations that do not do what they are supposed to do. We go for predictable successful projects. Including within the most challenging project environments.

We believe that people with room to act with a clear goal, organised in teams that work closely together, are the key to achieving this. This is how we are organised and this is how we organise the project. Within the limits of the budget, planning, and quality.

We are independent from engineering firms, contractors, and employment agencies, but we have an international network of project partners that we can call on for any necessary expansion of our team.

Customer benefits

You can benefit from our experience and that of our network.

Our common interest is the success of your project.

Your people remain available to carry out your daily operations.

Unburdened

We can design and implement large multidisciplinary projects within your mandate. In doing so, we take into account all internal and external stakeholders. From maintenance to government.

Experience

Our extensive project experience in various sectors and types of projects enables us to put the ‘best available technology’ and ‘best available practice’ we have learned into practice for your project.

Predictability

From day one, our project strategy is focused on making your project predictable. We define the project strategy based on this predictability, using a step-by-step project approach with clear milestones, decision moments, and evaluations of the underlying business case.

Transparency

From purchase to study to realisation. All our project processes, including their inputs and outputs, are perfectly traceable.

Structure

We streamline the information within the project. The requirements of the stakeholders are thus incorporated into the basis of design and are turned into reality through the various study steps. We do this by visualising. Appropriate visualisations allow the stakeholders to provide their input at different moments. These visualisations are then the basis for the related planning and budgets. Hence, ‘Start to design, make progress’.

Independent quality assurance

We follow up your project from feasibility to commissioning. In doing so, we install the necessary safety and quality systems and staff them as required.

Being motivational, forming teams, sharing entrepreneurship, and visualising together. That’s how we create a predictable project environment. Reducing the unforeseen is the essence of our approach.

From idea to realisation

A big project is something you do together.

Partnership cannot be left to chance. You need a system for that. A group of people is not a team until you make it a team. A process goes nowhere unless you program in predictability. People want to give their best unless you demotivate them. You have to nurture entrepreneurship in people. Our system is called Equals-Y where our Y is your project.

Share an idea

A big project starts with a big idea

And you develop this idea together in a number of steps. You learn more about that idea with each step.

“There is only one way to eat an elephant: a bite at a time.” And the same is true for tackling big ideas. That’s what the inverted Y in our logo represents. One leg splits into two.

Then you achieve the small ideas and put the small achievements back together. That’s what the Y in our logo represents. Different pieces become one.

If all goes well, by the end of this process you will have turned your big idea into a reality.

Y = Y or equals Y

Share a big idea

You develop this idea together in a number of steps. You learn more about that idea with each step. The aim of this process is to achieve a predictable project.

During the feasibility stage, you check whether your idea fits in with your organisation’s goal, as well as the technical and budgetary possibilities.

During the concept study, you compare the different possibilities of achieving your goal to your idea.

In the basic study, you determine whether your project is feasible and permissible.

In your detail study, you develop your idea to a level where all overlaps between the various disciplines are sufficiently identified in order to avoid showstoppers and discussions during the realisation. In other words, you provide a feasible idea that works.

During the implementation study, you develop all the details so that materials can be ordered and hours can be scheduled.

Achieve an idea

When you achieve an idea, you turn it into reality together.

The first step here is to select people who can make the study a reality.

During the roadshow, we visit contractors who have a profile that interests us for one or several parts of the contract. The aim of the roadshow is to obtain a number of competitive offers from suitable contractors.

We then ask the contractor to qualify through a number of relevant references. By determining what a relevant reference is, you determine what kind of contractors can eventually compete.

In the tender, we also ask the contractor to explain a working method. This is how we know if they have processed the file properly.

A contractor selected after this preparation can do the implement the project as they studied it. This method increases the predictability of the project.

Jan Van Dyck

Founder, Director, and heads the Integrated Project Support technical cell. Over 30 years of experience in the development and realisation of various custom-made projects for a wide range of customers in different sectors, from nuclear to metallurgy and on to food, make him the perfect partner for the technical management of your portfolio.

Len Hodges

Founder, Director, and heads the Integrated Project Support project management cell. Over 20 years of experience in large and very large projects within the oil and gas sector make him the perfect project management partner for your portfolio.

Our specialists assist engineering consultants and contractors within their speciality. They represent the client in the process. When necessary, they also manage their own team. On average, they have approximately 25 years of experience in a project environment and most have experience outside of technical expertise in a management role. All have experience in different sectors at different places within the organisation. Most of them started from scratch, working their way up.

Project Control

Project control manages the flow of data generated during a project and translates it into clear, transparent reports. It provides the information we need when we need it.

ENVIRONMENT, SAFETY, AND QUALITY

The supporting systems have a major impact on the predictability of the project. Safety, environment, and quality are in good hands with us during the project. This also means that we monitor the permit process.

At the end, we transfer the necessary information and systems to your organisation.

LOGISTICS AND WORK SIMPLIFICATION

Experience with logistics systems in retail, goods transport by train or other means of transport, labour skills, and work simplification are what you need to design efficient logistics in your company.

RELIABILITY MAINTAINABILITY

Right from the start of the project, we pay due attention to the availability, reliability, and maintainability of the project. This is necessary for maximising the output and minimising the OPEX of your project.

HVAC AND UTILITIES

Energy and air, and the right conditions for your project and people to work. Without a suitable HVAC system and a connection to the various energy and other networks, nothing works.

DESIGN AND VISUALISATION

Right from the start, we turn your ideas into appropriate visualisations. Through these visualisations, each discipline can provide input during the development of concepts or other phases of the study. This way, we can clarify the interactions between the different lots and control or bring them under control.

MECHANICAL AND PIPING

Industrial processes are shaped by mechanical components. Some are standard, while some need to be developed for your specific uses. And all these components must fit together. Above all, they must be manufacturable and robust. And preferably as simple as possible. That is the basis of mechanical design. We have extensive experience in all aspects of it.

Civil

A solid process needs solid housing. Right from the start, we pay due attention to the robustness, simplicity, manufacturability, and purpose of all facets of the construction. Smart design and phasing can have a significant impact on the turnaround time of your project.

AUTOMATION AND DISTRIBUTION OF POWER

This department is responsible for steering your project. It ensures that you get the right process installation at the right time. They also ensure that it’s understandable and clear for the people who operate and monitor the installation, and its input and output.
